Energizer Announce iPhone 4 Rechargeable Battery Case

Energizer are probably best known for their batteries and although they have produced rechargable battery packs for the iPhone before, this is their first for the iPhone 4.  The AP1201 may not have the flashy name that one has come to expect from products associated with the iPhone, but it does claim to be the first silicone case with a built-in rechargeable battery for the device.
The case is made from recycled silicone rubber and provides extra grip and plenty of protection, plus thanks to the clever charging system that either only charges the pack or ‘passes through’ to charge the phone too, it doesn’t need to be removed.  A series of LED’s on the rear of the case keep you informed of its power reserves.
Lithium polymer batteries extend your iPhone 4’s battery life by 200 hours of standby, five hours of 3G talktime and four hours of Wi-Fi/3G Internet usage, plus Energizer claim it’s good for more than 500 charges of its own, and it comes with its own USB charging cable.
As usual though, all this extra power means a bit of extra weight, and the Energizer case adds 55 grams to the iPhone 4’s 137 grams, pushing it close to a 200 gram total – and that’s a lot for a phone.  But if you need the extra battery, then that’s what you have to deal with!  The AP1201 is on sale now in the USA and priced at $69.99, but it doesn’t appear on Energizer’s European site yet.
